LAZY OAF SWIM CLUB
You know what they say “You are what you wear”… so perhaps I was influenced by the brand, or perhaps I should stop making excuses and just get myself into gear, but this post is being posted a wee bit later than planned, so I do apologise, the same still applies though, obvs.
A couple of weeks ago I took a trip down to Carnaby street to visit the opening of the new Lazy Oaf Swim Club collection in preparation for Summer Holiday season. I know the weather to date in England has not been the most promising so buying anything swim and summer holiday related is pretty damn hard when that excess puppy fat that was so kindly “keeping you warm for winter” is now “keeping you warm for summer” too, but if there was one brand guaranteed to put a smile on your face by they perfectly pastel colour palettes, they witty one liners and ability to make fun out of quirky characteristics… it’s most definitely Lazy Oaf… so off I trotted to seek this guaranteed lol.
I have been a huge fan of Lazy Oaf for a while now and my appreciation of their weird and wonderful retro, funny aesthetic always keeps me excited for their next collection launch. Of course as Summer is on the horizon (we hope) it only seemed a natural progression for the Lazy Oaf humour to be turned into some eye catching swimwear… and eye catching it definitely was. Think weird Barbie costumes, shark bite nipples and watermelon two pieces… of course they had it covered…. well the important bits at least.
With a fully stocked beach bar downstairs AND an alcoholic ice pop stand outside, the usual dreary London attitude was definitely picking up and as time ticked over more and more happy faces emerged from the narrow Carnaby Street doorway with coconut cocktails and arms wrapped in new swimwear purchases…I mean, free cocktails + 20% of all clothing … how can that marketing technique ever fail.
I of course was not shy to join in the fun and managed to navigate my way into the changing rooms, cocktail, camera and swimsuits in hand and predictably fell in love with the “Weird” Barbie throwback swimsuit… so what did I do … well with an alcoholic ice pop and a coconut cocktail down the hatch, my optimistic mind was in full swing, so I bought the swimsuit justifying it with many an Instagram snap in mind… these are yet to be taken.
Outside the shop in true lazy style there were huge bean bags for the shoppers who needed a break and more importantly for boyfriends to wait with the bags. The event was extremely buzzy and a great success. I left a very happy customer and with every intention to add more and more Lazy Oaf style to my Summer wardrobe.
